who are we?

Years ago (well, actually more like 7 years ago) some of us were on another server. Throughout the months, we changed servers, either because they closed, or because we didn't like them anymore. In the process of moving around we discovered lots of wonderful people scattered throughout the world and we left behind lots of dreadful characters also. Anyway, after so long, the traditional irc chit-chat model wasn't very satisfying anymore, and we made up rules (there, on the right), so #oasis wouldn't be like the rooms we were running away from. Then we organized chat meetings, and a collective webpage. Sometimes #oasisgrope is very quiet, sometimes very agitated, sometimes very serious and (uh yes, sometimes just plain dirty). We are extremely nosy with the newcomers because we don't like to waste time, but if nobody is there to be nosy, newcomers feel ignored. The fact is that being irc addicts, we are logged on, but not always active at the screen. We are adults with changing moods, working or relaxing, like in real life. Shocking, huh? Some of us actually do have lives.

no kids no teens : if we accept one we have to accept them all...sorry, but even if a few are very mature, it changes the ambiance.
no respect : we say fuck when we feel like it.
aggressive behavior is another story, mean people can fuck off.
sexuality and death are good joke material.
popups : those which are not too long, that you wrote yourself, that fit in the conversation are welcome.
The annoying ones, long, or colored, or that everybody knows by heart provoke a terrible contagion , stop conversation and provoke a vigourous ban too...sorry if you were being affectionnate.
bots, autogreets, any automatic device is repetitive and annoying... keep your toys out.
whining , depressed, maniacs ,paranoid and aggressive people should seek help in # <your-favorite-cult-here>.
Childish people should join any channel with the word <fun> in the name.
being a slut is not a problem, being a bitch is...if you have to be mean, go beat your kids instead.
we have a prejudice against stupidity , the other prejudices are not tolerated. Racists and any gender basher, or any sexual preference basher, should join #sick.
jokes are funny, but if everybody wants to tell his, it becomes a problem...do it when you are sure the joke telling won't last. Same for quoting songs and poems ..
a few other things : caps are loud, weather conversations are boring, and using 4, U,Y for "for" "you" or "why" ,or other dreadful abbreviations are tiresome to read. even the worse writers type whole words. and jokingly answering "front" when someones says "back" has been done in 96.slapping, even only a bit and around with any fish, slamming with any book, was done in 95. let's try something new and let's change often, please.
yeah, life is unfair...so? there are still all the other channels. Go be annoying there :-)
